Bono's "Red Campaign" with the Gap, Motorola, Armani, Converse, etc. How does buying a red cell phone help a child in Africa suffering from AIDS? Consumerism=Humanitarianism?

I think that the Red Campaign is genius. It is using western culture's lifestyle to help children in Africa suffering from AIDS. We all know that North America is run by big name commercial companies, so what Bono has done is feed off society's need to buy things. We are all consumerist, whether we admit it or not, so why not just keep doing what we do and help children in Africa at the same time. Besides most of the products that now wear the (RED) label are some the hottest consumer products out right now; from Apple iPods to Converse All Stars, thus making people give to a charity without having to even change their shopping routine.

I agree with you on the red iPod's. It's raising awareness towards an important issue as well as well the fact that the item is very popular.
